- אַיָּלָה, אַיָּילָה, אַיֶּילֶתf. (b. h. אַיֶּלֶת; v. אַיָּל) 1) hind, roe. B. Bath.16b top א׳ רחמה צר the hind has a narrow womb (vagina). 2) mostly אילת השחר the first rays (climber) of the morning dawn; cmp. Yoma 29a. Y.Ber.I, 2c; a. fr.; (cmp. Gen. 19:15 השחר עלה).
